BAM!

See Me…Hear Me…Feel Me

When you’re sitting at home writing your novel long before anyone offers you money to publish it, you don’t think about your eventual multimedia empire. or at least I didn’t. Now that the books are out there and people are buying them, all sorts of things I’d never considered are happening: Foreign translations, movie rights. . .and now, audio books!

That’s right; you can soon purchase the Avery Cates books in audio format. Right now, it looks like just The Electric Church is available for pre-order.

I offered to do the voice work myself, and pointed everyone towards my “batman” voice in the lo-rent trailer for The Eternal Prison I made. Somehow they turned me down and decided to go with a “professional” instead. Bastards.

The Plot of The Electric Church in 1 Minute

In order to celebrate and promote the release of The Eternal Prison across the pond in the U.K., I’ve created some new videos giving the plots of The Electric Church and The Digital Plague in about one minute, as a refresher course for folks who are thinking about buying The Eternal Prison. Here’s the first one, The Electric Church in OneĀ  Minute:

The next one, The Plot of The Digital PLague in One Minute, will follow later this week. Enjoy!

I’m Ordering the Gold Toilet Right Now

It’s not every day you see your own name in The Hollywood Reporter, kids:

Sony nabs rights to Jeff Somers novel series

We actually sold the rights some months ago, but this makes it seem like there might actually be a movie made, which is pretty damn exciting. I don’t know any other details (I’m probably the least-involved person associated with the movie, actually) so let’s just cross our fingers and hope it turns out well, shall we?

EDIT: Holy crap, I made IO9.com!

WE’RE # 15! WE’RE # 15!

Ahem. . .Patrick, of Pat’s Fantasy Hot List fame, has released his 2009 “Hotties” awards, and I am named not once, but twice, because I am hot. Or, as I like to call it, hawt.

First, The Eternal Prison is named as #15 on Pat’s top spec fic titles of 2009! W0Ot! Then, I’m also tied for “MOST IMPROVED AUTHOR AWARD” with the formidable David J. Williams. W0Ot! again.

So, now that you have 16 Barnes & Noble gift cards from various Great Aunts around the world, go forth and purchase my books, because Pat assures you they are great. Thanks, Pat!
